Limit your authenticity. Yes or No?

Limit your authenticity. Yes or No?

Either you replied YES or NO, you may be right. Or maybe NOT?
Let me elaborate more on it.

Did you know that?
GenZ people feel nostalgic about 90's.
Considering that GenZers are born between 1997-2006... is weird. The main reason that stands behind of it, is the feel that the era represents a carefree time that was about having fun and being your authentic self.

Unreflective and Reflected authenticity

Authenticity has its own categories.

In case you:
-act out every emotion, regardless of wins or losses
-tend not to question any emotion
-or, "Be who you are." is your moto.

Then, you are the no.1 example of Unreflective authenticity.

On the other hand, people who:
-reflect not only on their actions, but on the emotions that promote their actions
-have no problem admitting their own weaknesses. Not an easy factor.
-keep questioning "How do I deal with conflicts?", "Was I heard angry?"

Are the real case scenarios of Reflected authenticity.

There is no right or wrong, you are mostly affected by the cultural environment (working or not) you belong to.

Did you know that?
Having a culture of authenticity can lead to numerous benefits. Companies often see a 140% increase in employee engagement, 50% increase in team performance, 90% increase in team innovation, 54% lower turnover, and 150% increase in belonging. (BetterUp, 2022).

Is there a limit to authenticity?

This is where authenticity in your workplace, differs by your day to day one. "Being who you truly are" in your everyday life, has its own pros and cons and you are the only one responsible of them.

But, what is it about in a workplace?
The separator factors are your private life, itself, and the comfortability level you have on revealing it.
Although, professional authenticity is bending on four towers.
Remember that acronym: S^2AV. That stands for:

Self-Confidence & Self-Reflection.

Accountability

Values

Searching for the right balance?

Explore Your Own Style.

In order to find your own style, you should consider the balance between those four towers.
There is no magic recipe, moreover, most people prefer to start with the S^2 tower, as it seems to be the initiator factor of what we do reflect to others.

By being self-confident with self-reflective attributes stands alone, as a trait of authentic leaders.
Hand by hand, accountability comes, highlighting those leaders who mainly keep their word and promises.
Moreover, values are there to highlight all above, as two people with significant different values highlighting their actions, have nothing but also different understanding of accountability and s^2 factors.
